The BTEC National Award in Dance is an exciting, practical and hands on vocational qualification. Students are trained as part of a working dance company, which mirrors the professional industry. This fast track intensive course aims to develop the dancer's contemporary technique, choreography and improvisation skills. Dancers will study contemporary technique as the basis of their technical training but will also have opportunities to fuse dance styles together such as street, hip hop, Latin etc. Choreographers studied include Martha Graham, Christopher Bruce and Matthew Bourne. Dancers have the opportunity to create their own pieces of choreography as well as being led in choreography by the tutor. |
Dancers will also take on a unit entitled 'The Health Performer' giving an understanding of the human body and basic anatomy, physiology and the principles of fitness training. With fantastic new facilities including a dance studio rehearsal space and brand new theatre, we have the ideal set up to study this practical, exciting and creative performing arts subject.
