Medical Science

This course aims to develop an appreciation of the competencies, skills and knowledge required for higher education and employment in Science based careers. It is designed to give you a detailed understanding of medical science and the application of science to real situations in the workplace. This qualification will provide students with the opportunity to specialise in medical science, and specific areas within this, such as human physiology and medical science techniques in various fields. There are core units in physiology and pathology which will enable you to understand how the body works. These are complemented by units in chemistry, physics as well as mathematics in order to build up a complete scientific picture of how medicine is used today in the workplace. The course is modular and equivalent to 3 A Levels. Assessment is through assignments and involves a large element of practical activity.

In addition to the general entry requirements for this subject students will also be expected to have Level 2 Maths.
