Sociology is the study of society and how individuals and groups
interact within it. It deals with a wide range of questions and
concepts that are relevant to contemporary life. How has the
family changed? What leads people to commit crimes? Is
religion still important today? What is mental illness? An
important element of the AS and A2 course is an understanding
of how society is researched. Four key areas are studied: Family
and Households, Health, Religion and Crime and Deviance.
Students can progress to careers including Journalism, the Civil
Service, Government work and many others that require
interpersonal skills and an awareness of societal issues.
