Politics is for people who are not afraid to express their
views. Lessons contain a mixture of lively debate, exposure
to new ideas and close analysis of current affairs as they take
place. In the first year, students investigate the concepts and
institutions that underline the British System of Government:
How democratic is Britain today? Do we all have equality
before the Law? Do the police have too much power? How
does Parliament operate? In the second year, A2 students
look at the key issues in British Politics since 1945 in a topic
based way. They study issues like the Welfare State, the
politics of the environment and above all, the impact of the
European Union on British Politics.
