Committees

The following Committees assist the Corporation in carrying out it's work:

Finance & General Purposes Committee

The role of the Finance & General Purposes Committee is to monitor the financial position of the College. The Committee meets termly to undertake this review.

In addition, the remit of the Committee extends to:

  • advising the Corporation on the annual budget and year-end account;
  • making recommendation to the Corporation on capital expenditure, investments and borrowing; and
  • setting tuition fees.

    • Governance & Search Committee

    The role of the Governance & Search Committee is to advise the Corporation on the appointment of new members. It also deals with the re-appointment of serving Corporation Members whose term of office is coming to an end.

    The Committee treats appointments to the Corporation in the same way in which a vacant job in the College might be filled - the Committee receives applications, interviews candidates and makes a recommendation to the Corporation on appointments.

     
     

     

     

    Planning & Performance Committee

    The role of the Planning & Performance Committee is to advise the Corporation on the development of the College's curriculum and the standards of student achievement, teaching and learning and of support services in the College.

    The remit of the Committee includes quality assurance arrangements including receiving regular reports on student attendance, retention and achievement, lesson observations, staff and student views, complaints and compliments, student destinations and other quality assurance reports deemed appropriate for the Committee to review.

    The Committee considers and recommends to the Corporation the College's annual Self-Assessment Report and processes in preparation for inspections.

    Employment & Remuneration Committee

    The role of the Employment & Remuneration Committee is to advise the Corporation on the remuneration (pay, other awards and entitlements) given to the senior post holder(s); to advise generally on all matters relating to human resources; and to advise the Corporation on its responsibilities in being the employer of all staff.

    In addition, the Corporation has approved the formation of an Estates Committee to oversee the College's capital projects.

     

     

    Audit Committee

    The objective of the Audit Committee is to advise the Corporation on the college's systems of internal control, risk management and (corporate) governance arrangements.

    The scope of the Committee's work includes working to continuously improve the effectiveness of the College's internal controls and increasing public confidence in the objectivity and fairness of the Corporation's financial reports and in the quality of the College's overall corporate governance.

    The Committee also advises the Corporation on the appointments of the College's internal and financial statements auditors.

    The work of the Audit Committee is undertaken through a schedule of reviews covering such as the College's financial statements, the way in which the financial management process operates, student record information, franchising, and a range of other areas.
